Review
WinMount is a file utility that has the ability to compress and decompress files without really needing to extract them. It is a faster and innovative way to access compressed files since it mounts them or opens these files on a virtual disk without extraction.
Furthermore, it does not only mount files but it is an archive/image manager that can handle ZIP, RAR, ISO, CUE, MDS, ISZ and other compressed files. The mounting process consists in creating a virtual disk which is similar to a physical disk, such as a flash drive or a CD. This is faster due to the fact that emulated drives are created either in RAM or on the hard drive, saving thus a great deal of time when having large compressed files. As for security, users are allowed to choose to write data back to disk image file or not. This keeps the system away from viruses.
Unfortunately the program is not free for both personal and commercial use but you can download its free trial version to evaluate the application before purchasing it.

What's new in version 3.2
New in this version: WinMount can be used to mount images as a CD-ROM or DVD-ROM including audio formats. Support for the recent Windows Imaging Format (WIM by Microsoft) to deploy the latest Windows operating system releases. WMT (WinMount format) has been enhanced, works just like a folder to save files in it. It can be opened by WinMount only, this is ingenious and was designed to protect private files.
